Playlists and offering a FAQ for Students

A playlist of short helpful videos offers learners a quick an easy way to find the information they seek. By offering short video embedded in online leaning spaces, we can foster an ‘initial assimilation’ of the new content (Chickering and Reisser, 1993) from individuals within the new environment.

The playlist and short video is an excellent tool for accessing help and orienting learners who usually do not utilize optional orientations. Studies have demonstrated that embedded orientation videos within courses contributed to the completion rate of four out of five courses observed (Taylor, Dunn, & Winn, 2015). We should consider this when developing online content.
